A report prepared by a team of World Bank experts, in coordination with the Arab Development Funds and the Development Assistance Committee of Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and published in 2010, has asserted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was at the forefront of the most generous Arab countries on the global scale in the provision of official development assistance over the past four decades. According to statistics issued by the United Nations, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia topped the list of donor countries for voluntary assistance to finance humanitarian relief operations in 2008. The International organizations continue commending the Saudi humanitarian works which were provided as the Kingdom's fixed strategy, without any political purposes, or other considerations. In this context, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General Dr Jacques Diouf, has praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts in charitable and humanitarian deeds on the support of development and agricultural production in many poor and developing countries of the world, as well as its leading contribution to the fight against hunger and poverty in the world. --More 15:01 LOCAL TIME 12:01 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
