OIC and IDB Sign MOU for Management of Ebola Programme in West Africa

Jeddah, Rabi'II 12, 1436, Feb 1, 2015, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the management and implementation of a joint programme to fight Ebola hemorrhagic fever disease in West Africa. By virtue of the MoU, areas of cooperation and partnership between the two parties include: exchange of information and suggestions on needs to fight Ebola in West Africa, identification of available potential and all other means that could strengthen the programme's efficiency, and benefitting from the technical, administrative and legal expertise of the IDB in implementing the said programme. The MoU provides for continuation of consultation and cooperation and for the coordination of efforts for a better planning and implementation of the programme. It also calls for endeavoring to build new partnerships with relevant local and international circles to fight this epidemic in West Africa, and stipulates that all operations aimed at fighting the disease should complement the efforts of authorities and various international and local donors, taking into account the need to select the projects responding most to the priority needs of the states concerned. --More 18:15 LOCAL TIME 15:15 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
