Geneva, Dhu-AlHijjah 17, 1436, October 01, 2015, SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed its support for the UN resolution denouncing the continual serious deterioration of human rights in Syria. In a speech before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Faisal Trad, the Kingdom's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, said the resolution is balanced as it was designed to achieve justice, work for improving the situations of the Syrian people and end the Assad era which practices all kinds of violence, crimes and killings, apparent violations of human rights. He added that attempts to delete the denunciation of Hezbollah from the resolution draft is not acceptable at the legal and ethical levels due to the Lebanese party's criminal role and support for Assad regime in killing the unarmed Syrian people, noting that several UN and other specialized organizations have denounced this interference, a practice Hezbollah itself is not denying. Trad said Saudi Arabia has, together with other countries, worked in transparent and positive way to reach a balanced decision that brings to justice the violators of human rights. --SPA 21:33 LOCAL TIME 18:33 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
