Jeddah, Jumada II 5, 1436, Mar 25, 2015, SPA -- The International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) of Muslim World League (MWL) dug, during the past year, 1,773 artesian and shallow wells in 14 countries in Asia and Africa continents, to provide clean drinking water and irrigation of large areas of agricultural land serving 359,106 citizens in those remote areas at a cost of SR 16,387,689. IIRO Secretary General Ehsan bin Saleh Tayeb explained that the Organization has contributed to these vital projects to alleviate the suffering of the inhabitants of those areas of rampant diseases because of water pollution, pointing out that IIRO is making more efforts in order to dig more wells in those areas and other poor areas He praised the support provided by a number of benefactors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to financially and morally support the Organization, to accomplish such humanitarian projects, adding that the International Islamic Relief Organization has sent to these remote countries a group of Saudi volunteer engineers to see the progress of work on these projects and remove obstacles through inspection tours which achieved a lot of success. --SPA 13:09 LOCAL TIME 10:09 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
