UNITED NATIONS, Jumada II 20, 1436, Apr. 09, 2015, SPA -- U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Thursday considered Houthi seizure of power in Yemen a flagrant violation of UN resolutions and of the parties commitments towards the UN-sponsored political process. Ban told reporters before departing to Panama to attend the Two Americas Summit that since the first advance of Houthis, the situation deteriorated dramatically to lead to an Arab military coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in response to a request by Yemeni President Abdrabbo Mansour Hadi. He confirmed that the UN-mediated negotiations was a chance to restore the political transitional process to its path and preservation of the integrity and safety of territories, noting that his special envoy Jamal Benomar has over two months managed to facilitate comprehensive negotiations for all parties without exception and despite that differences are still there on some key issues, a number of them have been settled. Ban Ki Moon called on all parties to return to the political negotiations with good will, urging on all to protect the civilians and enable the pioneers working in the humanitarian field to provide assistance to them. -- SPA 00:58 LOCAL TIME 21:58 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
