Dareya, outskirts of Riyadh, Jumada II 20, 1436, Apr 9, 2015, SPA -- Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud patronized this evening the opening ceremony of Al-Bujairi Development Project, implemented by Riyadh Development Authority (RDA) as part of developing the historical city of old Dareya. Upon arrival at the venue, he was received by Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Deputy Premier; Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region; who is also Chairman of RDA and Chairman of the Higher Executive Committee for Developing Historical City of Dareya; Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of National Guard; Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities and member of the Executive Committee for Developing Historical City of Dareya; Prince Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman, Governor of Al-Dareya; and senior officials. Then, the monarch was briefed on the project before having a tour of the site. Addressing the gathering, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities and member of the Executive Committee for Developing Historical City of Dareya, drew the attention that today's move by the monarch is his first personal dedication of any project since assuming the throne. He announced his department’s initiative "Live Saudi Arabia", a program designed to accommodate some one million students to enjoy touring the country. He also announced the King's approval to rehabilitate some 34 historical mosques in the old city of Dareya and his laying the foundation stone for the first specialized heritage hotel. He said a national legacy center and exhibition will be established in Dareya soon. He added that phase one of developing the city, which was announced a historical site on the UNESCO list of world heritage, includes the rehabilitation of the residence, mosque and teaching center of each of late Imam Mohammed bin Saud, the founder of the first Saudi State and late Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulwahab during the first Saudi state, some 300 years ago. --SPA 00:36 LOCAL TIME 21:36 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
