KSrelief Supervisor General: KSA has provided over $ 17 billion to refugees, displaced people over the past two decades

Geneva, December 18, 2019, SPA -- Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has provided refugees and displaced people in the world over the past two decades with amounts of more than $ 17 billion, including $ 925 million for UN and international organizations, as $ 287.9 million were allocated to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). This came during his participation yesterday at the first Global Refugee Forum held in Geneva, Switzerland, in the presence of heads of states, UN senior officials, development organizations and business leaders. Dr. Al Rabeeah said that the Kingdom, emanating from its humanitarian role, has provided programs to support refugees and displaced people, and has been keen to implement the necessary projects for them in the areas of food security, health, shelter, water, environmental sanitation, nutrition and education, either directly or in partnership with the UNHCR and other international organizations. The Kingdom has also sponsored, in partnership with the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, the Rohingya Pledging Conference held on 24/9/2019, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, during which pledging countries committed to provide more than 283 million US dollars. He added that the Kingdom's support for refugees has not been limited to projects implemented in host countries, but also has been keen to host large numbers of Syrian, Yemeni and Rohingya refugees, as the number has reached one million and 94 thousand refugees, where the Kingdom provided them with job opportunities and health, educational and other services free of charge, whereas the cost of these services over the past five years amounted to more than $ 16 billion and $ 700 million.
