Riyadh, October 01,2019,SPA-- World Robot Olympiad competition in Saudi Arabia will kick off here tomorrow at Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Olympic Complex. The tournament to be organized by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) in partnership with a number governmental and private entities including the Ministry of Education, Saudi Federation of Cyber Security and Programming(SFCSP), King Abdulaziz city for Sciences and technology (KACST) and Saudi Wireless and Remote Control Sports Federation. WRO Competition 2019 in Saudi Arabia is sponsored by Think Tech, an initiative launched by MCIT and aims at exploring technology developments, achieving sustainable development and building an innovative and informed generation, integrated with the Kingdom's Vision 2030. It aims to enhance the role of the ICT sector in building a digital society, digital government and a thriving digital economy throughout the Kingdom. ThinkTech is linked to STEAM Approach, an educational method which focuses on the use of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics as access points for youth in robotics and Artificial Intelligence applications. 800 trainees have benefited from ThinkTech platform in paving the way for the local, regional and international WRO Competitions. 300 contenders will compete in the final competition 2019 in four categories and four age group, Regular Category, design, construct and program their robots to solve specific challenges in a field for four age groups (up to 10y), Elementary (up to 12y) Junior (13-15y) and Senior (16-19y), the Open Category where participants create their own intelligent robotics solution relating to the current theme of the season for two age groups ( 13-15y) and (16-19y), Football Category of autonomous robots playing football for one age category (10-19 years old), Advanced Robotics Challenge. The games are designed to test older and more experienced students' engineering and programming skills to the limit for one age group (17-25 years old).
