More than 30,000 employees provide health services for pilgrims in Makkah and holy sites

Mina, 06 August 2019 SPA -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has harnessed all its human and material resources to serve pilgrims and provide them with best services being provided by government and private bodies. The General Authority for Statistics announced today in its record of statistics of Hajj 1440 H via its official website www.stats.gov.sa that the number of manpower in the provision of pilgrims' health services and emergency for pilgrims this season amounted to 30,908 individuals (including 8685 women) of the Ministry of Health, Saudi Red Crescent Authority and Saudi Food and Drug Authority as well as the workforce providing health services from the security and military sectors. The total medical and ambulatory teams during the Hajj period are more than 1,141 medical, aid and field teams who provide services for pilgrims. The Authority explained that health, therapeutic, preventive and ambulatory services to pilgrims are provided as free specialized health services by the Ministry of Health, through specialized teams of doctors, pharmacists, nurses, technicians and administrators with a staff of more than 27,797. The Saudi Red Crescent Authority also allocated 132 temporary relief centers, 370 ambulances, 20 bicycles and 2,811 people for emergency teams and manpower in Makkah, Madinah and the holy sites in order to provide all medical and emergency services for pilgrims.
