Washington, Dhu-AlQa'dah 01, 1438, July 24, 2017, SPA -- A 10th victim has died after being found inside a locked, overheated lorry trailer in Texas, federal authorities investigating the suspected human trafficking case said Monday. Federal prosecutors vowed to identify and bring to justice the suspected human traffickers responsible. The driver was arrested at the scene. James Mathew Bradley, Jr, 60, a resident of Clearwater, Florida, was in federal custody in connection with the case and is expected to make a first appearance Monday in federal court in San Antonio. Police in San Antonio were called after midnight Sunday by store employees to a Walmart parking lot where 38 people were inside the trailer, including eight dead. A 39th occupant who had fled into a nearby wooded area was found a few hours later. All of the survivors were hospitalized, including some 20 in a serious or critical condition. A ninth person died late Sunday. The first nine dead were adult males, the Justice Department said. San Antonio authorities said children were among the survivors. Richard Durbin Jr, United States attorney for the Western District of Texas, said the trailer occupants were the victims of "ruthless human smugglers." The temperature was at least 37 degrees Celsius late Saturday in San Antonio, 230 kilometres from the Mexican border. The temperature inside the trailer would have been much higher, authorities said. --SPA 19:46 LOCAL TIME 16:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w452795
