Dr. Al-Awwad stressed that despite the great efforts exerted in the fight against terrorism and in the eradication of extremist thought, the success of these efforts requires joint action as an Arab group working in a single way to combat this scourge. "Unfortunately, the State of Qatar is taking the initiative to break the Arab ranks and spread sedition through its media arm 'Al-Jazeera Channel'. This requires a serious stance to prevent this criminal act," he added. "While the regime in Qatar claims that Al-Jazeera Channel is a channel for the opinion and the other opinion, we have not heard that this channel has criticized any decision taken by Qatar, but rather is a channel that supports Qatar and attacks others," he said. "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirms through this forum that Qatar must stop supporting terrorism and funding the media that promotes it. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also stresses the necessity that the media - whether in Qatar or abroad that hosts terrorists and disseminates their ideas - should stop. Therefore, we call on them to stop calling for violence and extremism and to stop interfering in the affairs of others," Dr. Al-Awwad concluded. --SPA 21:14 LOCAL TIME 18:14 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w445058
