Saudi Media Minister Chairs 50th Session of Council of Arab Information Ministers in Cairo

Cairo, July 17, 2019, SPA -- The 50th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers was opened here today under the chairmanship of Saudi Minister of Media Turki bin Abdullah Al-Shabanah, in the presence of Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit and Arab media agencies and bodies to discuss important issues, strategic visions and mechanisms related to media. The agenda of the current session includes discussing a number of items and recommendations of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers held yesterday at the headquarters of the Arab League. The most important issue is the Palestinian cause and the international media plan to counter the unilateral American decision to recognize Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as the capital of the Israeli occupation state, in addition to the adoption of the updated version of the Arab Media Code of Honor which establishes the values and principles of professionalism and ethics of media, and keeps abreast of regional and international developments. The Council will also discuss the agenda of the Arab Media Action Plan abroad, where it will work on developing new ideas to support its role in serving its three pillars, including the Palestinian cause, combating terrorism, and correcting the image of Arabs and Muslims. It will also discuss a number of important items, including the Arab Media Strategy, the Arab Media Plan for Sustainable Development; the role of the Arab media in combating terrorism; the Arab Electronic Media Committee; the Arab Media Capital; and a number of other topics. --SPA 13:31 LOCAL TIME 10:31 GMT 0009 www.spa.gov.sa/w1139452
