In this regard, one member supported the need of focusing on the rights guaranteed by Islamic law for humans and stating them in discussions with the relevant international bodies, holding it responsible of failure to reflect the reality of rights in the Kingdom and the official positions adopted by the Kingdom in some international conventions, citing the Kingdom's reservations on the Convention on Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). Another member said the Commission, in its capacity as an important arm for supporting and ensuring the rights, must clarify the mechanisms for doing this role, pointing out that observers might have noticed that poor coordination, blurred powers, and overlapping are major challenges facing the body, criticizing in the same context, the lack of the body's ability to choose its staff, and not giving them the necessary powers to attract the competent candidates needed. A member of the Shura expressed surprise of the Commissions' failing to settle some 5000 cases out of 12000 submitted to it by citizens, asking the President of the Commission to attend such a discussion on the performance of his organization. A female member demanded appointing females in the Board of directors of the commission. The committee was given more time for revision and re-submitting is report at a future session. --SPA 19:58 LOCAL TIME 16:58 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
