Relief Committee calls on its members to expedite provision of assistance to affected people in Nepal

Jeddah, Rajab 17 1436 AH, May 6 2015, SPA -- The Cairo-based General Committee of International Islamic Council for Call and Relief called on its members of 23 relief organizations to step up the pace in providing diverse humanitarian assistance to those affected people by the earthquake which devastated many areas in the Republic of Nepal. The committee noted that this horrific disaster resulted in huge numbers of victims as the number of the dead is currently about five thousand people, while the number of the injured reached about ten thousand people. The Secretary General of International Islamic Relief Organization and the Chairman of the Committee Ihsan bin Saleh Tayyip explained that this disaster is painful and beside to these tragedies suffered by these innocent people, they resulted in significant damage to infrastructure, homes, schools, hospitals, mosques and others, the matter which calls for the rush in to provide the necessary aid of all types, food, shelter, clothing and medicine . --SPA 14:19 LOCAL TIME 11:19 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
