Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled pointed to efforts exerted by the State of Kuwait during its presidency of the Arab Summit when it hosted the Arab gathering last year for the first time in its history amid very critical circumstances and challenges haunting the region. He boasted that the summit was successful and fruitful thanks to help and support from other Arab countries, noting that resolutions were made in order to support common Arab action and to promote Arab solidarity so as to find the best way to address major Arab challenges and issues. The State of Kuwait, in its capacity as president of the Arab Summit, helped by other Arab countries, has exerted obvious efforts to support the Palestinian cause and to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, he said. "This took place either through the meetings of the Arab Peace Initiative Follow-up Committee which convened five times last year in presence of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, through participation in regional and international events or through bilateral meetings with officials in friendly countries in order to promote Arab position backing the main Arab issue (the Palestinian cause)," he added. Kuwait was also a member of the Arab ministerial delegation which visited Switzerland, France and Britain to support Arab efforts to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and to provide international protection to the Palestinian people, he added. --More 18:57 LOCAL TIME 15:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
