Kano, Nigeria, Jumada I 5, 1436, Feb 24, 2015, SPA -- At least 34 people died in bomb blasts in two northern Nigerian towns, officials and witnesses said Tuesday. The first explosion ripped through a bus terminal in Potiskum, a town in Yobe State, killing at least 22 people. A second blast occurred a few hours later in Kano, the capital of Kano State. A full passenger bus was about to leave a station in Potiskum when a bomb destroyed the vehicle Tuesday morning, witness Malam Yakubu Baba, who owns a kiosk in the bus terminal, told dpa. "It was the second bus that was loading for the day," Baba said. "At least 22 people are killed." "Nobody came out of it alive because the explosion ignited a fire in the bus and burnt many of the victims," another witness, Auwalu Dinkwa, told dpa. About 30 other people were injured, according to local media reports. In the afternoon, a second blast went off at a busy bus and car station in Kano, police spokesman Magaji Majiya said. "As I was loading passengers to Abuja, the blast went off around me," said Malam Sani Ahmed, a survivor, who works at the station. Rescue workers were evacuating the injured to nearby Murtala Mohammad Hospital after the blast. -- SPA 23:09 LOCAL TIME 20:09 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
