UNITED NATIONS, Rabi'I 17, 1436, January 08, 2015, SPA -- The World Health Organization (WHO) said Wednesday that the Ebola epidemic has killed 8,235 people out of the 20,747 known to have contracted the virus worldwide over the past year. The U.N. agency said that there are signs that cases “may be leveling off” in Sierra Leone, but the country still reported 248 new confirmed cases in the week of January 4 and remains “by far the worst affected country at present.” WHO’s latest weekly report was based on figures reported by national authorities in nine countries. --SPA 13:02 LOCAL TIME 10:02 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
