United Nations, Dhu-AlQa'dah 29, 1435, Sep 24, 2014, SPA -- The World Health Organization (WHO) said Wednesday a vaccine might be available in large enough quantities by the end of this year to help control the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Previously, experts said a drug or vaccine was unlikely to be ready in time to help in the current outbreak. So far, there is no licensed treatment or vaccine for Ebola, although scientists are testing two vaccines. Ebola is believed to have sickened more than 5,800 people in five West African countries. The outbreak is the first to hit urban areas and has been difficult to control by the traditional methods of isolating sick people and monitoring everyone they came in contact with. --SPA 17:18 LOCAL TIME 14:18 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
