Jeddah, April 18, 2019, SPA -- The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) dispatched an Election Observation Mission (EOM) to the Republic of Indonesia to oversee its general elections. The OIC EOM monitored the elections held on 17 April 2019 in Jakarta and its suburbs and noted with satisfaction that the elections were conducted in an open, peaceful and orderly manner in conformity with the Indonesian electoral law as well as with the internationally accepted norms. In this regard, OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen congratulated the people and the Government of Indonesia on the successful conduct of the elections and commended the great sense of maturity and responsibility displayed by the people of Indonesia through these elections.
