Riyadh, March 27, 2019, SPA -- The Shura Council expressed its total rejection of the declaration issued by the United States Administration to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Height. This came in the Shura Council's statement in its ordinary session held here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker of the Council Dr. Abdullah bin Salem Al-Mutani. The Council said that attempts to impose a fait accompli on the Arab land, including the Golan Height, do not change historical facts, as it is a violation of the Charter of the United Nations, the principles of the international law and relevant international resolutions, including Security Council resolutions 242, dated 1967, and 497, dated 1981. It also called on international parties seeking peace and stability to reject this declaration and adhere to the resolutions of the international legitimacy and the Charter of the United Nations for the preservation of Arab rights, stressing the need that States' parliaments shall address such practices in violation of the international law, so that such a declaration would not have an impact on international peace and security. --SPA 14:55 LOCAL TIME 11:55 GMT 0014 www.spa.gov.sa/w1073837
