Arab League Council reiterates full commitment to the unity of Yemen and respect of its sovereignty

Cairo, Rabi'II 29, 1436, Feb 18, 2015, SPA -- Arab League Council reiterated today its full commitment to the unity of Yemen and respect of its sovereignty and independence, rejected any interference in its domestic affairs and the imposition of status quo that would undermine the political process and cause the region's security and political instability. A statement issued by the consultative meeting of the Arab League Council held at the permanent representatives level in Cairo, chaired by Mauritania, urged all political forces in Yemen to come to one word, remain committed to the political solution, return to negotiation table, provide the appropriate atmosphere to implement the GCC initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue and the peace and national partnership arrangement to reach common goals that run in the path of the national interests of the country. The Arab League Council confirmed the outcome of the Arab ministerial meeting held on February 14, 2015 in Riyadh as well as the results of the UN Security Council held on February 15. The Arab League Council demanded the Secretary General of the Arab League to hold contacts with Arab foreign ministers to fix a date for the Arab League Council at the ministerial level as soon as possible to take the appropriate position towards the developments in Yemen. --SPA 21:37 LOCAL TIME 18:37 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
