Saudi Arabia Affirms Its Keenness to Protect and Promote Human Rights and Renews its Commitment to International Conventions 4 Geneva

The head of the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia disclosed that the Kingdom has given the issue of combating corruption a high priority, citing the issuance of a Royal Decree in 2017 instating a high committee for combating corruption to protect the public funds and combat corruption that obstruct the development plans, and establishing the National Center for Performance Measurement "Ada'a" to measure the government performance indicators, issue periodic reports on the strategic objectives achievement, and measure the satisfaction of the government services beneficiaries. Al-Aiban stressed that freedom of opinion and expression is guaranteed under the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's laws and subjected only to the restrictions prescribed by law, necessary to respect others rights and reputation and to protect the national security, public order, health as well as morals. He stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia empowers women as well as enhances and protects their rights during the period of the report. Al-Aiban said before the Human Rights Council that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made a remarkable progress in the field of respecting and protecting children rights by taking several procedures that contributed to strengthen legal and institutional frameworks.
