For his part, Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, chairman of the Public Transport Authority, said that the project is the first fast electric train in the region, with a length of 450 km, in a double line connecting five stations located in Makkah, Jeddah, King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Rabigh-based King Abdullah Economic City and Madinah, whereas the operational speed of the train is 300 km/h. Dr. Al-Rumaih said that this giant project has been implemented in three stages by a number of national and international companies. He added that the capacity of the Haramain high-speed rail could be enough to 60 million passengers annually with a fleet of 35 trains each has 417 seats, equipped with the latest amenities and techniques that will facilitate a traveler's journey.
