Jeddah, Jumada I 05, 1439, January 22, 2018, SPA -- Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir chaired the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States "on the launch of a ballistic missile by Al-Houthi militia towards Riyadh city." The Foreign Minister thanked all OIC Member States for their response to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's call for an extraordinary ministerial meeting to take urgent action against the launching of an Iranian-made ballistic missile by the Iranian-affiliated terrorist organization on the city of Riyadh. In the kingdom's speech he delivered at the opening session of the meeting, he said that the Iranian regime continues to smuggle weapons and rockets to the Houthi militias in Yemen with the aim of attacking the kingdom, its people and vital interests, according to UN reports issued by the 2231 Resolution Committee and the Yemeni Penal Committee (2241) posing a threat to the security and safety of the region and to international peace and security. Adel Al-Jubeir explained that the threat to the security of the kingdom and the region by the firing of ballistic missiles from Yemen, which exceeded (300) including (90) missiles that targeted various regions of the kingdom topped by Makkah underlining again the continued Iranian regime's aggressive approach of supporting terrorism and its blatant interference in the affairs of the countries of the region and working to undermine the security and stability of states and provoke the feelings of Muslims around the world. The minister pointed out that the kingdom has provided assistance to Yemen worth more than $ 10.2 billion, including humanitarian, developmental and governmental assistance. However, the Iranian regime through its rebel arm in Yemen has worked to sow discord and sectarian strife among its people and supply the Houthi militias with weapons, ammunition and missiles, targeting the extension of the duration of the crisis and the suffering of the Yemeni people. He said, "These militias have carried out acts of looting, theft and confiscations of aid including interception of more than 85 aid ships, more than 124 food convoys, more than 628 humanitarian aid trucks and more than 5,500 food rations in addition to carrying out acts of kidnapping and killing of aid workers in Yemen." The Foreign Minister pointed out that the kingdom and the countries of the coalition to support the legitimacy in Yemen are preparing to launch comprehensive humanitarian operations in Yemen to provide relief and assistance to the Yemeni people by providing financial support to the United Nations organizations and international organizations in Yemen, opening new land and air ports and expanding and improving Yemeni ports on the Red Sea and the Arab Sea to increase trade, humanitarian and relief assistance to the Yemeni people. He concluded by saying, "I affirm my country's commitment to the principles and purposes of joint Islamic action. We must stand resolutely against all those who are working to tear down the Islamic world through sectarianism and the violation of the sovereignty of states. Every Islamic state has a religious and moral duty to stop supplying the Houthi militias with money, weapons and ballistic missiles and to hold those who do so legal responsibility and to be considered a firm partner in the attack on our Islamic sanctities in order to preserve the national security of our countries and the safety of our peoples.
