Riyadh, Muharram 22, 1439, October 12, 2017, SPA -- Filippo Grandi, the United Nations Commissioner for Refugees Affairs, said that usually humanitarian crises are the outcome of wars or catastrophes currently witnessed by the world, drawing the attention that the year 2017 has seen the displacement of more than two million people, triggering him to seek the help of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which has long proved its ability and will to solve humanitarian and political crises in several places of the world, qualifying it to play a pivotal role in solving such problems. He considered the Kingdom as among the world's most interested in solving humanitarian and political problems, curbing such crises or solving them, expressing hope to show continuous cooperation with the Kingdom to solve many of the humanitarian problems and crises in a number of places in the world. In a press conference, Grandi lauded the Kingdom's prudent decision to establish King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid which has orchestrated the international assistance all over the world, citing its recent help for the Rohingya in Myanmar. He confirmed the keenness of the UN Commission for Refugees on cooperation with the Riyadh-based center, initiated by instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, citing the scientific and pragmatic approach of the center in assessing the size of crisis and acting to solve it.
