Istanbul, Dhu-AlQa'dah 4, 1438, Jul 27, 2017, SPA -- A strong storm caused an explosion, flooding and hail damage in the Turkish metropole of Istanbul on Thursday evening, as various parts of the city ground to a standstill, dpa reported. On the Asian side of the city, in Haydarpasa, a large harbour crane collapsed causing an explosion and a fire, which was eventually brought under control, the Daily Sabah newspaper reported. In Sisli, on the European side of Istanbul, a wall at a cemetery collapsed, injuring at least two people. The car tunnel under the Bosporous was closed off, as were many metro stations, while flights were also cancelled. Videos shared online showed flooded streets, while eyewitnesses reported large hailstones had smashed windows in houses and cars. --SPA 03:28 LOCAL TIME 00:28 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w455103
