Hanoi, Shawwal 3, 1438, Jun 27, 2017, SPA -- Five houses were knocked down by a wave of sediment pushed by river waters early Tuesday on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, sending panicked residents scrambling, state media reported. At approximately 1 am (1800 GMT Monday), residents were woken by sudden violent shaking in their riverside houses in Nha Be district in the Mekong Delta, reported the VN Express news site. According to dpa, "the iron roof and the walls were torn apart before they tumbled down," Tong Thi Mong Trinh, 27, told VN Express, adding that she saved her motorbike, but lost 9 million Vietnamese dong (395 dollars) cash and her gold. A total of 27 residents were forced to flee as their homes collapsed into the Rach Giong River, although no lives were lost. --SPA 15:57 LOCAL TIME 12:57 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w436860
