Baghdad, Dhu-AlHijjah 19, 1437, September 21, 2016, SPA -- The Iraqi parliament on Wednesday voted to remove Finance Minister Hoshyar Zebari from office amid public protests against alleged corruption in government, dpa reported. One hundred and fifty-eight lawmakers in the 328-strong legislature voted for the motion against Zebari, who took on the post around two years ago, parliamentary sources said. Last month, Zebari, a veteran Kurdish politician, was summoned to a parliamentary session to answer questions related to allegations that he misused public money. He denied the claims. Kurdish lawmakers condemned the allegations against Zebari as politically motivated. --SPA 18:19 LOCAL TIME 15:19 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
