Miami, Dhu-AlHijjah 11, 1437, Sep 12, 2016, SPA -- Tropical Storm Ian formed Monday over the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Bermuda but is not currently a threat to land, U.S. forecasters said. The U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Ian was still far out to sea Monday, more than 1,600 kilometers southeast of Bermuda. The storm, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph), was moving toward the northwest near 10 kph and could strengthen starting Tuesday night, it said. Meanwhile Hurricane Orlene formed far out over the Pacific Ocean, and additional strengthening is forecast. The storm’s maximum sustained winds early Monday were near 145 kph, the Miami-based NHC said.
