Riyadh, Nov. 25, 2019, SPA -- Chaired by the Minister of Media Turki bin Abdullah Al Shabana, the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Audiovisual Media, held its ninth meeting here today. At the outset of the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of the authority's role in the development of the audiovisual sector, to contribute to the creation of an investment environment, empower national media companies, attract foreign direct investment and stimulate economic activity, in the areas of audiovisual media, praising the achievements of the authority, during the past period and wishing it further progress. The board reviewed its achievements regarding media aspects related to media organization, difficulties, solutions and opportunities for the development of the audiovisual sector, in the Kingdom, in addition to reviewing the final account of the authority for 2018 and its budget for 2020. On the other hand, the authority's Chief Executive Officer-designate Saud bin Nassar Al-Hazmi explained that the Authority seeks to transform the audiovisual sector into an integrated national industry, aimed at increasing the size of the media market, to make a quantum leap in that the audiovisual sector, in accordance with the aspirations of the wise leadership to turn it into a strategic tributary of the national economy. --SPA 20:42 LOCAL TIME 17:42 GMT 0041 www.spa.gov.sa/w1216954
