KSA Calls on international Community to Find a Humanitarian Solution to Protect Muslim Rohingya minority

Geneva, Dhu-AlHijjah 29, 1438, September 20, 2017, SPA --The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has stressed that the issue of the Muslim minority in Myanmar is one of the priorities of other concerns to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, calling on the international community to intensify its efforts to stop the systematic ethnic cleansing against Rohingya Muslims and intervene to find a humanitarian solution that protects Rohingya minority from violence and collective punishment being committed against them. This came in the speech of the Kingdom before the 36th session of the Human Rights Council during the interactive dialogue with the International Mission for investigating in Myanmar, delivered by the representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasel. Ambassador Al-Wasel strongly condemned recent acts of violence being committed against the Rohingya Muslim minority which resulted in the exodus of thousands, expressing his regret regarding the continued procedures being imposed by the Government of Myanmar against the fact-finding mission for not entering the country to conduct its duties for uncovering serious violations of the international humanitarian law and the human rights law to which Rohingya Muslims are being exposed. Dr. Al-Wasel also expressed regret that Myanmar authorities had prevented humanitarian and relief organizations from reaching the Rakhine Region and providing humanitarian and relief aid to those affected people. --SPA 16:07 LOCAL TIME 13:07 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w492478
