New York, Jumada II 3, 1433, Apr 24, 2012, SPA - Qatar has called on the international community to take firm measures to protect the Syrian people in the event of non-compliance of the Syrian regime with the provisions of United Nations Security Council resolution 2043 which authorized the deployment of the mission of military observers in Syria to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the implementation of the six-point plan of United Nations and Arab League Joint Envoy for Syria Kofi Annan. In a statement at a meeting of United Nations Security Council last night, Qatar's Acting Permanent Representative to the United Nations Yusuf Sultan said that since the deadline to stop violence in Syria was on April 10, the Syrian regime has continued violation of its obligations including the presence of military forces in populated centers, bombing cities with heavy weapons and even helicopters, continuing arrests and tortures of people and other abuses, which emphasize the non-commitment of the Syrian regime with any provision of the plan. --SPA 11:24 LOCAL TIME 08:24 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/991706
