Yemeni Foreign Minister, UN Official Discuss Efforts to Resume Political Consultations

Aden, Dhu-AlHijjah 25, 1438, Sep 16, 2017, SPA -- Yemeni Foreign Minister Abdulmalik al-Makhlafi discussed with the new Deputy Head of Mission of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen Moin Shreim, efforts exerted to resume political consultations and the role of the United Nations to reach a political settlement, in Yemen. The Yemeni official reiterated the position of his government, which supports the political settlement that ends the war, the coup and alleviates the human suffering of the citizens. He pointed out that the legitimate government took positive note of all the peace efforts and the endeavors of the UN envoy to Yemen Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmed, during which he made many concessions, pointing out that the Iranian-backed putschists underestimated all these efforts and did not give any real indications of their desire for a cease-fire and an end of coup they waged or withdrawal and surrender of arms.
