Attempts to Plant Land Mines, Smuggle Arms, Narcotics Foiled, Culprits Arrested, MoI Security Spokesman Announces

Riyadh, Jumada II 20, 1438, Mar 19, 2017, SPA -- Within the task of Border Guard forces to secure the Kingdom against threats, a unit of the guards, at the Southern border, have, successfully, managed to foil several attempts to plant land mines, smuggle arms and ammunition, in addition to as much as half a kilo of Hashish, on 11-19/06/1438, the Security Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced, adding that that as many as 30 culprits have been arrested. Ninenteen of the culprits are Ethiopians, seven Yemenis, three Saudis and a non-identified person, he stated, pointing out that a total of 1265 infiltrators were captured, 847 of them are Yemenis, 309 Ethiopian nationals and 16 Somalis. He also indicated that three of them were killed and two were injured, eight land mines seized, 23 different arms kinds, 32160 bullets and 607 kilos of Hashish have been confiscated. -- SPA 19:16 LOCAL TIME 16:16 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w357054
