Juba, Rabi'II 17, 1438, Jan 15, 2017, SPA -- South Sudan's President Salva Kiir has sacked the governor of the country's central bank and the governor's two deputies, according to a decree broadcast on state television Saturday. Kornelio Koryom Mayik was replaced by economist Othom Ajak, dpa reported. Analysts said Mayik was dismissed over high inflation and the depreciation of the South Sudanese pound in relation to the dollar. South Sudan's oil production plunged, and the economy generally suffered, after the outbreak of an armed conflict between Kiir and his former deputy Riek Machar in December 2013. Tens of thousands have been killed and 3 million displaced. --SPA 02:16 LOCAL TIME 23:16 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w312498
