Gaza City, Muharram 04, 1438, October 05, 2016, SPA -- Israeli planes carried out a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday afternoon, according to sources here, after a rocket from the area struck southern Israel, dpa reported. The sources said one of the extremist group's training posts in the southern Gazan city of Khan Younis was targeted, as well as another military post in the central Gaza Strip. Israeli tanks also fired shells at the area in northern Gaza where the rocket had originated. Neither side has reported injuries. The Israeli military would not confirm the attacks. The strikes came after a rocket from Gaza landed in the southern Israeli city of Sderot earlier Wednesday. The rocket struck a road in a residential area of the city that's less than 5 kilometres from the Gaza border, according to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld. After a rocket hit Sderot in August, injuring none, the Israeli military carried out airstrikes against targets in Gaza in response. --SPA 17:28 LOCAL TIME 14:28 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
