Kabul, Dhu-AlHijjah 06, 1437, September 08, 2016, SPA -- The Taliban was Thursday on the verge of capturing the capital of Afghanistan's southern Uruzgan province, a security official said, as heavy fighting continued for a fifth day, according to dpa. "There is fierce fighting going on at the moment," said Uruzgan security chief Colonel Abdul Qawi. He said the Taliban had not yet entered Tarin Kowt but "are very close," denying media reports and Taliban claims to have entered the city and broken into a prison. "We need reinforcements and air support," said Qawi, adding that all shops in Tirin Kowt were closed. --SPA 11:54 LOCAL TIME 08:54 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
