Asuncion, Rabi'I 16, 1437, December 27, 2015, SPA -- At least eight people died and hundreds of thousands were driven from their homes by flooding in three South American countries, a news report said Saturday, dpa reported. Four people died in Paraguay and more than 100,000 people temporarily fled their homes for safety. The Paraguay River, which flows through the capital, Asuncion, crested at 7.7 metres. The storms and flooding knocked off electrical service to 125,000 homes. In the Bolivian Amazon region near the border with Brazil, two men died after heavy rain and flooding.
