Islamabad, Jumada I 24, 1437, Mar 4, 2016, SPA -- Afghan officials and representatives of the Taliban insurgency were expected to hold an informal meeting in Pakistan to kick-start a broader reconciliation process backed by the global and regional powers, dpa quoted officials as saying Friday. The first direct interaction between the Kabul administration and rebels since the collapse of the nascent peace talks last summer will take place in Islamabad in coming days, two intelligence officials told dpa. "No date has been finalized yet, but it can take place in two to three days," a Foreign Ministry official confirmed. The meeting follows efforts by a group formed last year by the United States, China, Pakistan and Afghanistan, to chalk out a roadmap to end the 15-year-old conflict in Afghanistan. --SPA 14:08 LOCAL TIME 11:08 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
