The statement reiterated Pakistan's position in which it expressed deep concern over the escalation of the situation by Iran and the attacks on the Saudi Arabia diplomatic missions in Iran, and called for the need to respect the international standards of relationship and commitment to the principle of non-interference in the affairs of other countries. The Pakistani Prime Minister called for the need to resolve the differences between Riyadh and Tehran by peaceful means in order to ensure the unity and cohesion of the Islamic nation's entity. On the other hand, the statement pointed out that Al-Jubair held delegation-level talks with the Adviser to Pakistani Prime Minister Sartaj Aziz, and the talks held in the framework of a bilateral mechanism for political consultation. During the talks the two sides discussed ways and means to expand the fields of bilateral cooperation, and ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in all areas, and agreed to hold political consultations twice a year, alternately in Islamabad and Riyadh. The two sides also exchanged views on the fight against terrorism and extremism, and Sartaj Aziz briefed the Saudi foreign minister on the successful campaign waged by Pakistan against the dual threat of terrorism and extremism within its territory. The two sides stressed the need to develop the joint cooperation backed by the position of scholars to combat terrorism and extremism. The two delegations also discussed regional and international issues of common interest and agreed on concerted bilateral efforts to promote multi-faceted cooperation and work together to defeat terrorism and extremism.
