Washington, Rabi'I 10, 1437, December 21, 2015, SPA -- One person was killed and at least 37 more injured when a car drove into pedestrians in Las Vegas late Sunday, police said. The driver responsible for the crash was in custody, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) said, according to dpa. "We're looking at it as possibly being intentional," an LVMPD spokesman told reporters at the scene. The officer said that police had ruled out terrorism as a motive. LVMPD tweeted that the investigation was still "active" and appealed for witnesses to come forward. The Las Vegas Strip was blocked off after the crash at about 6:40 pm (0240 GMT Monday), with police asking commuters to take alternative routes. According to broadcaster CNN, the vehicle veered onto the pavement and crashed into a crowd of people standing in front a hotel. Seven people were still in critical condition, the Las Vegas City Hall said on Twitter, saying it was a "sad night" for the city. --SPA 11:29 LOCAL TIME 08:29 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
