Washington, Muharram 14, 1437, Oct 27, 2015, SPA -- The United States said Tuesday that it condemns the "horrific and indiscriminate" Boko Haram attacks at the Jambutu Mosque in Adamawa State, the Central Mosque of Polo Ward in Borno State, and other locations in Maiduguri last week. According to reports, 27 people were killed and 96 were injured in an explosion Friday at the Jambutu Mosque. That same day, twin blasts in Maiduguri killed 21 and injured 19. "We offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to the families and loved ones of the many innocent civilians who were killed and injured," State Department spokesperson John Kirby said in a statement. "The apparent use of children - particularly young girls - to commit these attacks is especially heinous, and it provides yet more examples of the horrific measures Boko Haram is willing to take to terrorize civilians in northeast Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin region," Kirby said. "The United States continues to support the governments and people of the Lake Chad Basin region in their ongoing struggle to defeat Boko Haram. We will continue to assist these vital efforts in every appropriate way," Kirby said. --SPA 18:06 LOCAL TIME 15:06 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
