Riyadh, 08 Muharram,1437 , 21 October,2015, SPA -- The Minister of Health Engineer Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Faleh warned of the danger of the spread of obesity and diabetes diseases in the world, noting that this danger does not threaten only human life, but also beyond that, it threatens their resources posing an economic burden on them, according to a global economy report saying that treating diabetes costs amounted to $ 500 billion in the year 2011, and will increase to $ 750 billion in 2030. The minister said that the World Health Organization reports showed that in just three decades, the prevalence of obesity in the world rate increased to more than double, and that diabetes would be the seventh reason for death by the year 2030, and the spread of the two diseases rate rises in the developing world, adding that the diabetes infection rate in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States ranges from 15 to 20%, and it is among the first twenty positions worldwide in the prevalence of obesity among their citizens.
