New York, Dhu-AlHijjah 17, 1436, October 01, 2015, SPA -- Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, expressed thanks to and appreciation of all Islamic countries who offered condolence on Mina stampede incident, confirming that the Kingdom is dealing with this matter in the most serious and transparent way to guarantee final solution of the problem as part of its continual and strenuous efforts in the service of pilgrims. He also scorned the unjustified statements aiming at collecting political gains from a humanitarian tragedy that Muslims performing a religious duty have incurred. We think such statements are irresponsible and aim at staging a wedge among our Islamic world. This came in a speech, Al-Jubeir made at the annual coordinatory meeting of the foreign ministers of the member states of Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation which was held in New York today on the sidelines of the 70th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations currently ongoing in New York. He thanked the Islamic world representatives for swiftly responding to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's invitation to hold this meeting to discuss the Israeli brutal attacks on Al-Aqsa mosque, a flagrant violation of the sanctity of Islamic sacred places and worshippers at the mosque. He added that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has, following the break of the news, managed to make telephone calls to heads of effective states, and the United Nations Secretary General to express profound outrage and denunciation of the incident and underscored to them the importance of the UN security council's interference to take the necessary measures to stop the Israeli aggression on Al-Aqsa mosque and protect the Palestinian people. The major challenges facing our Arab and Islamic nation, will not, despite their hugeness, drag us from the Islamic world's central issue and would not divert our efforts that target pushing for a permanent, fair and comprehensive solution to lift the occupation, and establish a viable and independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as capital, he said. So, we are required today not to suffice the statements of denunciation but to move seriously and effectively at all political and legal levels to confront the unilateral Israeli policies and work on one hand and end the Israeli occupation on the other, according to the international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative, he concluded. --SPA 20:04 LOCAL TIME 17:04 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
