Geneva, Dhu-AlHijjah 14, 1436, Sep 28, 2015, SPA -- A host of Yemeni civil society organizations, including legal panels and activists, held talks in Geneva today with the International Federalism for Human Rights to denounce the flagrant violations of human rights perpetrated by the Houthi rebels and Saleh in Yemen. During the meeting, the possibility of forming a mechanism for cooperation between the Yemeni civil society organizations and the IFHR was discussed and human rights situations in Yemen reviewed. In a statement following the meeting, Hind Al-Omairan, a human rights activist in Aden, portraited the sufferings of children and women as a result of Houthi violations and practices, including kidnapping, arrest and killing, citing the killing of legal activists in Sanaa three weeks ago. She said they killed 123 children and 196 women during the invasion of Aden earlier in the year. She added that the siege on Yemeni cities by Houthis led to the death of several patients with chronic diseases, including diabetes. She underscored the importance of implementing the UN Security Council resolution No. 2216 and that nobody should evade punishment. --SPA 19:46 LOCAL TIME 16:46 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
