Berlin, Dhu-AlHijjah 5, 1436, Sep 19, 2015, SPA -- A German navy frigate operating off the Libyan coast took on board almost 400 refugees rescued from an unsafe wooden boat on Saturday. In an operation some 35 kilometers offshore lasting around three hours, the refugees were brought aboard the Schleswig-Holstein. In a subsequent operation, more migrants were rescued from a dinghy, most of them from Sudan or Eritrea. According to dpa, the frigate is one of two German navy vessels operating as part of the European Union's EUNAVFOR Med, which was launched in June to counter migrant smugglers, curb the loss of life at sea and reduce the high number of arrivals on European soil. --SPA 21:51 LOCAL TIME 18:51 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
