Rome, Dhu-AlHijjah 5, 1436, Sep 19, 2015, SPA -- Some 4,343 migrants were rescued and the body of a woman was recovered Saturday following 20 separate operations off the coast of Libya, Italian authorities said. According to dpa, the Italian Coast Guard said it found the dead woman as it intercepted 379 people aboard three dinghies. In the largest single rescue of the day, another of its vessels picked up 1,137 people from two migrant boats. Rescue vessels run by the Doctors Without Borders charity and the private Malta-based Migrant Offshore Aid Station also took part in operations, along with the Italian, German, British, Croatian navies and a passing cargo ship. The German frigate Schleswig-Holstein, part of the European Union mission EUNAVFOR against human smugglers, took aboard almost 400 people from an unsafe wooden boat. In a subsequent operation, more migrants were rescued from a dinghy, most of them from Sudan or Eritrea. A further 335 people were rescued in Greek waters but were due to be taken to an Italian port by a Norwegian vessel, the Italian coast guard said. --SPA 20:19 LOCAL TIME 17:19 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
