Tokyo, Shawwal 25, 1436, August 10, 2015, SPA -- A Japanese nuclear plant operator announced Monday it would restart a power plant on the south-western island of Kyushu, the first reactor to come back online since the nuclear disaster at Fukushima, dpa reported. It would be the first nuclear plant to restart under stricter safety regulations, which were implemented following the accident in March 2011. Some residents had tried legal action to stop the reopening of the Sendai complex, run by Kyushu Electric Power Group, which is scheduled for Tuesday. All of Japan's 48 reactors were put offline following the nuclear disaster at the Fukushima Daiichi plant, which suffered a triple meltdown after it was hit by a magnitude-9 earthquake and tsunami. --SPA 10:58 LOCAL TIME 07:58 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
