MANAGUA, Nicaragua, Shawwal 15, 1436, July 31, 2015, SPA -- A Nicaraguan judge has sentenced nine police officers to between two and 11 years in prison for a June shooting in which two children and their aunt died, according to AP. The officers all pleaded guilty to charges roughly equivalent to negligent homicide and causing injuries. The shooting happened June 11 as police staked out an intersection in Managua, the capital, after receiving information a drug shipment might pass through. Authorities said the officers began shooting when a family travelling in a car failed to stop because they thought the masked men were thieves. A 22-year-old woman, a boy of 11 and a girl of 10 were killed. --SPA 03:07 LOCAL TIME 00:07 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
