Jeddah, Jumada II 24, 1436, Apr 13, 2015, SPA -- Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad bin Ameen Madani stated that the General Secretariat is consulting with several civil society organizations that have consultative status at the OIC and with other humanitarian organizations to provide medical, food and humanitarian aid for the Yemeni people. The Secretary General urged Member States and civil society organizations to provide humanitarian assistance especially medical and food supplies to the Yemeni people. He commended the assistance that has already been provided by some government and charitable organizations. The General Secretariat is also consulting with United Nations agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent to take urgent steps to alleviate the plight of the Yemeni people and to consider the steps to be taken in the medium term. --SPA 20:42 LOCAL TIME 17:42 GMT www.spa.gov.sa/w
